Designing a media strategy that creates a wider conversation about cultural beliefs and attitudes that normalize violence and abuse against children. Producing short films that gathers data from children and young adults to present real lived experiences using film and audio recordings. The first six films made use of the semi-structured interviews, presenting the individual experiences simply in order to encourage audience reflection on the issues raised. Symbolic imagery was used to support the otherwise narrative content, provoking certain questions by highlighting conflicts and contradictions among different issues. Agenda 1, a pilot research and media project to understand the root causes and drivers that normalize issues of abuse and violence against children and adolescents in New Delhi, India. BFI Doc Next Media Lab 2013 is a development and bursary scheme that provides funding, mentoring, training and other support to young filmmakers. Through the program, I have been exploring the use of ‘Affect theory’ in moving images. In Sep 2013; I made a short film called ‘Guilt, Evidence and A Wish’. Made in collaboration with the contributor 'Otto Frank', the film is about emotions that we associate with expressing gender, sexuality, and identity.
