Re-jingling is the process of re-purposing unwanted fabrics in the production of children’s sleepwear, occasion wear and accessories. The philosophy behind re-jingled is to promote environmental friendliness in an effort to combat fast fashion and to produce unique items of children’s clothing. Project managed operational procedures pertaining to the management, safe operation of catering, housekeeping and security of residential centre for asylum seekers and refugees. Planned and organised all employees/contractors work on site ensuring clear objectives and deadlines were met for each department in the centre. Developed and owned relationships with key external stakeholders – government agencies, service contractors, educational groups, NGO’s and local support partnerships. Initiated and created “Friends of the Centre” initiative in order to provide regular consultation with key bodies to promote and deliver on centre objectives in a complex and changing environment. Proactively prepared for potential crises through regular monitoring of current worldwide conflict situations, policy and legislation changes. Advocated on behalf of clients through my strong ability of being an attentive listener and grasping clients’ diverse and complex needs. Coordinated and managed service provision, including budgets, for the client base through frequent and strategic communication with local, national external stakeholders and Boards of Directors. Completed, researched, validated and delivered a project on ‘The effects of a physical activity intervention on happiness in children living in Direct Provision’, measuring happiness, stress and optimism. Oversaw continuous improvement Quality Management Systems for the centre achieving scores from 71% to 88% between 2009 – 2019, incorporating business plans, KPI’s and flow processes. Formulated and introduced a new Conflict Management Policy for all centre contractors and staff in line with the Department of Justice “Welcome Guide” protocol.
