Founder and Editor in Chief, STORIED STORIED is an online journal and printed magazine that is inspired by the people, places, crafts, and culture of Japan. Celebrating slow and sustainable journalism and touching personal narratives, we take our readers on a journey into the true heart of the country. Each article brings considered recommendations and intimate storytelling with a focus on promoting sustainable travel - actively combatting over-tourism by illuminating unique and boutique options along the well-trodden tourist trail, whilst also educating our readers on lesser-known aspects of Japan. I believe that this is the future of media in a global atmosphere that wants and demands accountability and sustainability within their press. As the head of a very small team, I am responsible for many aspects of running the business and producing editorial content, including: Developing a business strategy and full creative/branding concept. The commissioning and creation of all editorial content across both print and digital platforms. The building of relationships remotely and across cultures and timezones. Achieving sales of over 3000 copies in the first three months of publishing, and currently on track to sell 10,000 copies in our first year across four (seasonally-released) issues. Managing our direct mailing list, social media channels, and online shop. Purchasing, pricing, and payroll. Acting as a customer service manager and point of contact for our readers.

An adventure-seeker from the beginning, I was often found high-fell walking in the Lake District with my parents as a child, or exploring the rainforests of Borneo or Thailand with my sister on summer breaks from university. It was here that I found and nurtured a connection to nature, people, and storytelling. I am a self taught photographer and writer with a distinctive narrative prose, and emotive photographic style, which lends itself perfectly to creating content with a focus on storytelling. My editorial work has been featured in Condé Nast Traveler, Lodestars Anthology, The Japan Times, Suitcase Magazine, Asia Tatler, STORIED, and more. In my role as a freelance commercial content producer, I have also worked for UNESCO World Heritage, Shimane Prefecture Tourism Board, Visit Nara, and Visit Japan, amongst others, providing social media strategy, conceptualising marketing campaigns, and creating copy and content. I am a multi-faceted creative specialising in photography, art direction, content creation, writing, and editing. I have spent years in start-up environments, learning how to move a project forward, and I am lucky to also have an innate passion and enthusiasm for print and digital content across all genres; architecture, travel, craftsmanship, and cuisine. I love creating content and hunting down new ideas, telling people’s stories and sharing that with readers who care.
