Rachel was the ultimate talent to interview. I would interview Rachel on many occasions for NBNNine News in her role as CEO at Coast Shelter. Her engagement with the media was always professional, on point and flawless. The topics she had to address and the questions she was faced answering were often hard, uncomfortable and sometimes distressing, yet Rachel always stood strong and with the utmost empathy, answered all queries truthfully and with heartfelt passion. She always commanded a strong leadership presence but at the same time always stood as an equal amongst everyone. Her passion for working with people who are homeless and doing it tough always shines through as her driving force, matched with her natural skill to lead and explore options outside the square.

Rachel approached every task with professionalism, a great attitude, and generally just made us all feel supported as we moved through a challenging time. We are very grateful for Rachel's contribution to our situation, one that she helped us to resolve efficiently, and at minimal cost/impact to our community.

As a member of the social planning team I played a pivotal role in creating liveable communities for young people, facilitating diverse cultural expression and social cohesion. The role involved planning for the needs and aspirations of young people and communities through strategic policy and action, integrated with urban, regional and other planning activities. The position was founded on the principles of social justice (equity, access, participation and rights) and aimed to enhance community well being and effectiveness.
