I initially undertook this role as an unpaid placement for my university degree. Following the placement, my supervisor offered me a paid part-time role. This involved working directly for an academic carrying out a variety of research and lab managerial tasks. Used a variety of research techniques, collating and analysing an assortment of data sets using both SPSS and R data analysis packages. Presenting the results in easy-to-understand spreadsheets, informal, brief descriptions and formal reports. Had to assess the feasibility of proposed research topics, conducting literature reviews and determining possible methods of answering the questions. Then discussed this with my supervisor and negotiate what is possible with my available time and resources. Show less

This was a very varied job and recently involved helping to develop a new website that provides welfare benefit information for social landlords, by creating pages and links, and copying and synthesising information. I have conducted research into potential customers and analysed customer feedback forms to help influence practise and policy. Additionally, I have developed leaflets, both for providing information and advertising, as well as PowerPoints to be used in training sessions. I work within a team discussing ideas and then independently to bring these ideas to life. Show less
