Doctoral Capstone Student

I completed my 14-week doctoral capstone experience at Sweet Pea’s Therapy in Davenport, Iowa. Sweet Pea’s Therapy is an outpatient pediatric clinic consisting of occupational, physical, and speech therapy. I have seen a wide range of children throughout my capstone experience, including those diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder and sensory processing disorder, those with FM, VM, and GM delays, and many more. I worked with children ranging from infancy to young adult. I performed evaluations and documentation to develop treatment plans geared toward each individual child and their situation. I developed and administered interventions to work on attention, following directions, ADL/IADLs, GM/FM/VM skills, and peer engagement, such as turn taking, sharing, and social skills.

Level II Fieldwork Student

I completed my 12-week Level IIB Fieldwork Experience working in inpatient, outpatient, and home health in a rural setting. I learned to adapt/administer the evaluation, treatment plan, and goals based on the OT setting. I worked with a wide range of adults with varying conditions, backgrounds, and circumstances. I learned to develop a treatment plan for several different conditions and adapt the treatment plan based on the patient's specific needs. I completed my 12-week Level IIB Fieldwork Experience working in inpatient, outpatient, and home health in a rural setting. I completed my 12-week Level IIA Fieldwork Experience at an outpatient clinic. I worked with the adult and pediatric population with varying diagnoses. I learned to build rapport with patients to administer evaluations and interventions that are meaningful to each patient. I developed treatment plans based on evaluation findings and adapted the treatment ideas depending on the progress and preferences of the patient. I completed my 12-week Level IIA Fieldwork Experience at an outpatient clinic. I worked with the adult and pediatric population with varying diagnoses. I interacted with the children and their families and learned to identify subtle cues of pediatric patients in the inpatient setting.
