I shadowed reporters, turned press releases into articles and wrote articles from scratch. Editors were thrilled to make the most of my foreign language skills: I researched, contacted and spoke to the appropriate people in France and Italy was thus able to write a report on the Alps bus crash of 16th April and a full profile piece on new Sunderland manager Paolo di Canio.
