The Social Mobility Foundation provided me the fantastic opportunity to visit White & Case LLP for week long work experience as part of the Aspiring Professionals Programme from August 6th-12th. Going into this at first I was sceptical since my interests in law lie outside the corporate and commercial fields. However, shadowing associates and partners at White and Case’s London Office helped me gain authentic insight into areas of law that I had never considered before - all of which I found to be deeply interesting, and made me realise the true impact that the legal system has on our lives. I shadowed an associate in asset finance, and was given various tasks in the field of project finance. Myself and fellow SMF students conducted a mock negotiation, we had an interview practice, and CV-writing and presentation workshops. Overall, this experience was unforgettable and has only furthered my passion into entering the field of law. Show less

Kennedys Commercial Law Virtual Work Experience Programme

I took part in the Kennedys Commercial Law Virtual WEx - provided by The Forage - where I applied practical skills to further develop my commercial awareness. Preparing a witness statement, creating a presentation, leaving voicemails, and drafting a memo on the effect of a "force majeure" clause has provided insight into the work that I may partake if I decide to enter a career in corporate law. Get into Law Easter Work Experience

This was a virtual work experience event held during the Easter break and I had the opportunity to learn in detail about the different pathways into law. I found the appearances of certain companies highly insightful - particularly when they highlighted the type of work that they do, and what it is like to be employed there. Overall, this experience was very helpful for me to gain more awareness of the legal sector, and how each company works to impact the wider community. Companies and firms that appeared include: Fragomen, the University of Law, Charles Russels Speechlys, and Freeths. Show less
