I am writing in support of Rachel Miller because I believe she will make an outstanding intern for your organization. Rachel was a student of mine for two years in high school. Apart from her excellent academic credentials, I would say it is Rachel’s leadership and organizational abilities, in conjunction with her communication and collaborative skills that I remember most. In high school, Rachel was a member of the National Honor Society (NHS) and I was the chapter advisor. During the years she was under my guidance, I noted that Rachel’s leadership skills were exceptional. Rachel helped me organize over twenty community service and fundraising activities both in and outside of the school community. These activities included our annual Sun Valley Volleyball Marathon, book, food, and clothing drives, as well as movie nights and school dances to name a few. In particular, her exhaustive efforts helped the NHS raise over $20,000 in her senior year. It was the most money ever raised in the history of the NHS at Sun Valley High School. Rachel then suggested to me that the NHS set up a committee of organizational members to decide where best to allocate the money. During my nine years as the NHS advisor, I can say with absolute certainty that Rachel was one of the most energetic, industrious, disciplined, and organized students that ever served in the NHS. Accordingly, I cannot think of a former student of mine that I could recommend more highly for an internship than Rachel Miller. Prior to my career in education, I was an account executive in business for over fifteen years. I was responsible for hiring all the employees in my department. Two of the most important things I looked for when interviewing college graduates were the same social and critical thinking skills that Rachel Miller possesses. I also know that Rachel’s innate intelligence, in conjunction with her concern and empathy for others, will make her an ideal candidate to build and maintain relationships with all her colleagues and the clients your organization serves. Rachel is without question one of the most responsible and energetic students I have ever taught at the high school level. I have rarely encountered a student that has as many exceptional personal characteristics as Rachel. It is my distinct pleasure to recommend Rachel Miller for an internship position in your organization. Sincerely, Dr. James E. Page Sun Valley High School
