Rachel was a fantastic mentor to me at my time in MacMillan. Her compassion and empathy towards others come completely natural and a quality which is hard to find nowadays. I worked with Rachel for a year where she mentored me in co ordinating a vital service for the community. As a health and well-being student, I learned a vast amount that my studies would have struggled to teach me. Rachels can do approach and organisation was superb. Overall Rachel has a unique ability to engage with anyone and I feel she will go far within the charity sector. I was lucky to have such a great mentor.

Working alongside Rachel, I was warmed by her genuine desire to support positive change in the lives of young people and her ability to empathise with people on a level I'd rarely seen, and so naturally at that. Rachel has a contagious enthusiasm that is unwavering from one working moment to the next, which demonstrated to be a key force in her ability to lead effectively. She is a confident communicator having managed relationships with internal and external stakeholders, and was able to convey the message of the National Citizen Service (NCS) programme in a profound way that saw her pass the gates of numerous secondary schools across the capital - some previously not accessed - and inspire hundreds of young people to join the programme. What I particularly admired about her leadership was how she injected an ounce of creativity in every task and day to day outgoing; energising games before a meaty task, quizzes and competitions, motivational emails, team lunches - the examples are numerous. However, what was equally powerful was her recognition of the diverse talent of our team and her work in cultivating us to become leaders by giving us key responsibilities, delegating to us work we'd naturally shine on but also identifying areas where we could develop and placing us in measured zones of comfort to fast track our growth. Rachel is an exceptional leader, a true team player and, through personal experience of my own, makes the finest baked treats I might add.
