As a clinical research coordinator at Tennessee Retina I am responsible for managing Phase I - Phase III clinical trials aimed at treating a variety of diseases concerning the retina. This includes medications and devices looking to aid in care with patients suffering from age-related macular degeneration, diabetic macular edema, proliferative diabetic retinopathy and other conditions. During my time as Chief Scribe, I was responsible for the local management of all scribes at our site. This involved duties such as scheduling, performance reviews, continuing education, and staffing. I served as the direct link between the site's physicians and upper management to create a communicative pathway that ensured our doctor's needs were being met and our site was operating under both Scribe America's professional and the federal governing bodies regulations.

As a scribe I provided intact and efficient documentation of each patient visit during a shift with a given provider, so that the physician's focus could remain direct patient care. Responsibilities included documenting the patient's visit in real time, recording lab and radiology reports, alerting the physician of any abnormal values or findings in a timely manner, facilitating provider to provider communication, and maximizing the efficiency of each provider's work flow.

Quality Assurance Specialist

In this role I was responsible for maintaining the quality of the site and proficiency of each staff member. This included monthly reviews of charts, in person shift shadowing, and communication with providers about any issues or areas of excellency. I was responsible for filling these findings into online reports, and implementing improvement plans as necessary to ensure that all services and members were up to the standards of the Joint Commission, Scribe America, and our physicians.
