Rachel Johnson is a staff attorney in the Women’s and Reproductive Rights Project of the ACLU of Illinois. In her role, Rachel focuses on improving gender equity and expanding access to comprehensive reproductive health care for all, which includes ensuring individuals are not denied information or care due to their providers’ religious views. Rachel was a Senior Staff Attorney and Pro Bono Supervisor for the Chicago Alliance Against Sexual Exploitation (CAASE). At CAASE Rachel sought justice for survivors of sexual assault and exploitation through various civil and administrative laws with a focus on workplace sexual violence and discrimination. She also represented survivors of sexual exploitation in vacatur of criminal convictions related to prostitution and sex trafficking. Rachel provided training and guidance to pro bono attorneys on how to work with, litigate for, and protect the rights of survivors of sexual assault and trafficking. Rachel was also a member NELA and a member of the Coalition Against Workplace Sexual Violence, a group of labor rights and anti-rape activists collaborating to create a stronger, more inclusive strategy to combat sexual violence against low wage workers.
