Freelance subeditor

Apr 2010 - Dec 2012
A return to my roots as a freelance subeditor. Presently, working at MiNDFOOD mag (mindfood.com) and floating around the Park St and Goulburn St offices of ACP, which has included stints at CLEO mag, ACP Digital and ACP Parenting. Have also recently worked at News Magazines (delicious.) and Pacific Magazines (Weight Watchers magazine). "You're the perfect emergency sub," says Anthony DiCarlo, chief subeditor of CLEO mag. Thanks, Ant, I'll run with that! Fifteen years experience with magazine and newspaper publishing has helped me to hone an eagle eye, with an expert understanding of grammar and an appreciation and respect for a magazine's individual style and, of course, tight deadlines.

Before Leon Nacson became managing director of Hay House Australia, he ran his own publishing company, Nacson and Sons. I cut my teeth here, working as a book editor on titles such as 'More Time For Sex', 'Aromatherapy for Natural Health' and 'Deepak Chopra: World of Infinite Possibilities'. As a naive 22 year old, fresh out of uni, with grand ideas on how to change the world, 'The Planet' – a healthy lifestyle, environmental, self-development newspaper – was my ideal first job.
