I was promoted to Communications Manager after proven abilities in this area. I led the communications and development of the Traveller Genes launch. I developed the website and liaised with the press team for a launch in October 2021. We successfully hit our participant registration target in November 2021. I also continue to develop communications and social media strategies; and manage the social media channels, website and participant communications for the Viking Genes studies.

After my digital engagement skills were proven, I was promoted to Digital Engagement Officer. In this role, I continued to develop and analyse our organic and paid social media advertisement, until the closure of our final CovidLife survey in May 2021. Currently, I am finalising the social media strategy, accessibility guidance and communications policy for the launch of our Generation Scotland expansion in early 2022. After my abilities were proven in Generation Scotland, I agreed to also work for Viking Genes. I created and developed the communications and social media strategies for volunteer recruitment into the Viking II study. I also created the Viking Genes website using EdWeb, designed participant facing ethics documents and managed our organic and paid social media accounts. I analysed public interaction with our online content and improved outreach channels accordingly. During the first Covid-19 lockdown, I led in the launch of the Coronagenes study, where I created and maintained their website and social media channels, until I returned to Viking Genes a few months later. Generation Scotland Administrator

I initially joined Generation Scotland as an administrator where my key role was to lead in website development and maintain communications with the research community. After receiving funding in 2019 to expand the study, I developed the social media strategy. During the first Covid-19 lockdown, we launched the CovidLife studies, where I led in the development of paid and organic social media content, updated the website and used Google Analytics to assess our digital communication methods. I later became a Clinical Trials Administrator in oncology, where my core tasks included minuting, tracking, assisting in ethics and liaising with study teams across the globe. Both roles required a good scientific understanding, a keen eye for detail and excellent teamwork skills.

After volunteering, I gained a position as a laboratory assistant for the vertebrate and invertebrate departments. My key role was to respirit the wet collections prior to them being moved to a new building. I also assisted the curators in any task required of me, such as working on The Shore Thing project. Working at the Collection Centre helped improve my communication with others and has boosted my enthusiasm in building a career in Marine Biology.
