During my time training Rachel Chang as the next social media editor at The Daily Targum, I saw that she exhibited an excellent understanding of content making and general social media management skills. Rachel was brilliant in understanding the process of curating specific content for each social media platform the Targum currently handles while excelling in producing the content itself. She was very collaborative in the newsroom and worked brilliantly with other sitting editors to generate content fitting the Targum audience. Rachel had no issues using our social media management services such as Later and Creator Studio. She was beyond what I would have expected from a successor of this relatively new desk at the Targum. One clear instance that came to my mind when I think of Rachel’s expertise in social media was during our yearly Valentine’s day campaign. A highly curated campaign for the Targum’s targeted audience, Rutgers students and alum, heavily focuses on Valentine’s day (Feb. 14) to drive newspaper readership and media engagement numbers. During one of many meetings involving other desks for this campaign, I saw Rachel’s quick skill in logistically managing a large project while also not skipping a beat in keeping in mind Targum’s branding and audience– while brainstorming original yet interactive ideas. Nevertheless, this was one example of Rachel’s qualification as social media editor at The Daily Targum.
