  I was responsible for the day to day operation, driving sale opportunities and controlling the P&L, managing, developing and motivating all employees and volunteers, revenue management, budget and labour forecasting, H&S compliance, reviewing and writing risk assessments. Throughout the 4.5 years, the occupancy grew from 66% to 72% year round, annual income in my first year (2014/15) was £680,000 and in the last full financial year (2017/18) it was £814,000 (increased yearly income by £134,000). Customer satisfaction grew year on year, in 2018 (over 6 months) the hostel was averaging 91% overall guest satisfaction scores.

  Within this role I supported the entire network providing general manager and management cover for hostels when the managers were on annual leave or they were absent. Placements varied from 4 days to 4 months, at multiple venues across England and Wales. This role taught me how to read a situation within a short period of time, normally 24 hours. As a Designate Manager I was responsible for the general day to day operation, so all audits or reporting had to be carried out as normal.
