In Summer 2013 I became a Civilian Instructor with the Air Training Corps. in 2020 I was named as the Training Officer for the Squadron and am responsible for the enrichment and personal development of cadets aged 12-20 on a weekly basis. Being in charge of the training programme means I must plan a monthly itinerary for parade nights, organise events, delegate activities and source materials, and look after the general welfare of cadets. Often described as the ‘backbone’ of the organisation, the voluntary role requires a considerable amount of responsibility, enthusiasm, and commitment. Frequently my weekends are taken up by assisting on shooting ranges, climbing walls, or at RAF stations as cadets train to achieve qualifications in these fields and many others. In 2021 I was successful in the commissioning process and was appointed Acting Pilot Officer. Show less

Marketing and Communications Manager
-
Jan 2019 - Dec 2021
Responsible for all internal and external-facing communications of the wedding venue and the adjoining holiday cottages available on-site, sharing the business story, driving customer standards, and delivering first-class customer service. Fostering relationships with the local community, as well as key industry partners, I was proactive in creating opportunities with stakeholders and suppliers to maximise reach and exposure while working within strict budgets. I also made several internal tools to help analyse the B2C journey, growth, sales, and the current positioning alongside competitors. Having successfully delivered several social media and brand positioning campaigns over the past couple of years, the venue has soared, and has been recognised on both regional and national levels for the Team’s commitment to customer service and the wedding experience it delivers. Marketing and Communications Manager

Oct 2016 - Jan 2019
As the venue's Marketing Manager, I was responsible for ensuring the successful promotion of the venue and telling the story to help inspire couples looking for their dream day. Taking the company through a rebrand in 2016, I helped transform the venue from a small family run business to a nationally recognised multi-award winning venue. Working with key contacts and partners, I was able to showcase the venue on a regional and national scale, through online channels and in editorial print. I was delighted to help the team secure 'UK Wedding Venue of the Year 2018' as well as 'England's Wedding venue of the Year 2017', through a series of application submissions and public nominations. Specialising in events, I run a number of open days attracting hundreds of visitors each year, showcase at a number of local and regional exhibitions. Responsible for all communications both internally and externally, I have created a number of strategies to help look after our current customers and reach out to potential clients through a variety of channels.I have also created a number of tools to help analyse sales, growth and our current positioning alongside competitors Show less

Feb 2014 - Jul 2015
As a Non-executive Director, I was responsible for the long term planning, policy making and financial viability for the Bureau. Trustee

Sep 2013 - Jun 2015
Appointed to the role in September, I was honoured to sit on the board as a Trustee and act as an ambassador for the charity. It was my duty to ensure our local Citizens Advice Bureau complied with its governing document, statutory legislation and that it pursues the objectives of the organisation. As a board member, I took an active role in ensuring the future financial stability of the charity, steering the direction of the organisation and help facilitate the development of all individuals, both volunteers and paid workers. One of my main roles was to help manage and contribute to the social media channels. In a digital age, networks such as Facebook and Twitter have proven vital to update clients on important changes in the law, provide impartial advice and also demonstrate how CAB can help individuals in their local community. Qualified Advisor and Telephone Gateway Assessor

Oct 2010 - Sep 2013
As a fully qualified advisor, I offered face to face contact with members of the public facing a range of issues. These could include Employment Disputes, Family arrangements, Discrimination and Debt matters. As a result of the Blyth Valley CAB extension, the new CAB office at Cramlington pioneered the first telephone advice service between the two offices. Working on the phones allowed the service to reach out and help more individuals on a daily basis.

Graduate Outreach Ambassador (Marketing & Student Recruitment)
-
Sep 2013 - Jun 2015
As a Northumbria University Graduate Ambassador, I worked within the Marketing and Student Recruitment Team in representing the university at key recruitment and social events. As the face of Northumbria and also the Law School, I was a key link to students be they undergraduate or postgraduate, as a vital source of information for their potential student journey. Working beyond the North-east, my team targeted schools based on an analysis of regional trends and offered a range of programmes tailored to their academic needs. This involves a vast amount of organisation and planning from materials, to transport and event management. The sessions reached out to all students wishing to enter higher education or go into full time work and help to develop students through key skill sessions. From time management to note taking and even to UCAS application writing, we use the sessions to equip the students with the necessary skills to succeed in not just post 16 Education, but also University. I also developed sessions to run alongside the programme which were rolled out in 2014/2015 and proved extremely popular. As well as representing the University on open and applicant days, I was also part of the Raising Aspirations programme (RAP). This involved going into schools and delivering sessions to pre 16 age groups in order to get them thinking about Higher Education.Due to my creativity and passion towards higher education, I created a number of interactive activities for students which are now available for schools/colleges to book via the University. In addition, I successfully devised a regional widening participation scheme for Northumbria Law School. The programme aims to provide a fun and educational insight into studying Law at Northumbria, in the hope we can continue to attract applications from the most talented students in the region. I took part in the Camp America programme where I was a Specialist Counsellor for 3 months at a disability camp in Pennsylvania. The children suffered from a wide variety of social communicative disorders including Autism, Aspersers and ADHD. Often the programme was intense and challenging as I spent 24 hours a day with the children, however, the experience was not only rewarding for the kids but also myself.
