  I was a mentor for biology, physics, chemistry, mathematics and english at Monash University's Foundation Year Program. Peer Mentors are high-performing students, in one more subjects, who is nominated and has volunteered to mentor and assist other students to better manage their own learning. In semester 2, 2020, Peer Mentors have mentored students online through Zoom. Peer Mentors have all undertaken the following activities: • Participate in training sessions in mentoring and communication skills • Assist in the Strong Foundations Induction program for new students • Mentor students in subject-based learning a few hours per week for one semester • Provide a welcoming referral point for students to other services as required • Engage with students of diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds and levels • Assist in Learning Skills workshops, orientation sessions and promotional activities • Facilitate small group discussions • Contribute to short videos on study tips and promotion of the service Show less
