I have no hesitation in recommending Rachel. She has developed into a genuine business partner, dispensing knowledge, advice and action in all the right measures. Working in a dynamic organisation such as ours, the HR manager needs to handle all aspects of human resources work - she has not had the luxury of having support staff specialising in different areas. In such an environment you need to possess sound people skills, which Rachel has in abundance, but you also need to understand your craft well. HR professionals should work for the well-being of colleagues in the company. Too many of them in my experience (and I speak as a HR professional myself) forget this fundamental principle. Rachel’s contribution has often been about working behind the scenes, keeping communication channels open, acting as the honest broker or sending out early alerts of difficulties brewing. Then there are they occasions when you need to stand up and be counted. You need a depth of emotional intelligence to do all of this well. I believe this is at the heart of her success. She is also likeable, an often under rated quality in HR professionals. Would I employ her? - Yes undoubtedly.
