Researched and wrote a 70-page manual for the "Mexico Roadmap Project," a position and project funded by the U.S. Embassy in Mexico City to promote an increase in study abroad programming to U.S. institutions of higher education. The manual focuses on the success of The University of Texas at Austin's International Office in re-engaging with Mexico following a nation-wide freeze on U.S.-Mexico academic exchange programming. The manual provides strategies for promoting Mexico as a diverse destination for students. As a graduate assistant, it was my role to research, write, and edit the manual, meet deadlines, communicate effectively, and collaborate with the Assistant Director of Study Abroad. Upon publication of the manual, I completed the project by developing a webinar series, a conference poster, and a 4-hour long workshop for a diverse audience of international education professionals. Served as a U.S. student researcher and cultural ambassador in the Republic of Moldova. Conducted historical research using archival documents at the Agency for the Inspection and Restoration of Monuments in Moldova, the only preservation organization in the country. Investigated the changes to preservation policy and the commemorative landscape in the 20th century and assessed how public monuments in Chisinau represent the evolution of national identity construction. Created and implemented a preservation advocacy campaign in order to engage the public in the importance of historic preservation, which reached over 200,000 Moldovans during the month of May via social media, nationally broadcast TV and radio interviews, and in-person presentations throughout the country. Collaborated with the history department at Ion Creanga Pedagogical University where I facilitated a book club focused on multi-cultural American literature in short story form and connected students in the capital with a sister book club in the South of Moldova. Delivered presentations and lectures to students and professors on American history, cultural heritage, studying in the United States, and English language learning at Moldova State University, the U.S. Embassy’s American Resource Center, and various other organizations. Created the traveling panel discussion series “What is an American?” in collaboration with Peace Corps volunteers, the English Language Fellows Program, and other Fulbright scholars. Lead the Chisinau English Club and a bi-weekly English conversation hour with the Educational Advising Center. Show less
