I worked with Rachael for 16 years at American Cinematographer magazine, the flagship publication of the American Society of Cinematographers (ASC), after initially hiring her to fill the senior editor position in 2000. The editorial talents and instincts that landed her the job soon enhanced our entire operation, where she quickly became an invaluable staff member. Cinematography is a complex topic that generally requires years of study not only for its practitioners, but for anyone who aspires to a level of expertise in covering the topic from a journalistic perspective. Rachael demonstrated a sharp learning curve and soon became recognized as one of the top journalists in our niche. Her many articles on the subject are considered essential reading, and her editorial supervision of the magazine's freelance writers greatly enhanced their work as well. During Rachael's tenure at American Cinematographer, the magazine earned a slew of publishing-industry honors, including Maggie and Folio Awards for editorial excellence, and the skills she applied on a daily basis played a key part in those successes In addition to serving as a first-rate interviewer, writer and copy editor, Rachael demonstrated excellent managerial abilities. She supervised nearly two dozen freelance writers for a decade and a half and somehow kept them all on deadline. Her personal and professional integrity led me to anoint her "the conscience of American Cinematographer" — a sincere and serious compliment in the world of entertainment-industry journalism, where standards and practices must be policed with keen vigilance. Rachael also contributed to the magazine and the ASC by attending countless screenings, film festivals, trade shows, technical demonstrations and product launches to gather information and make contacts that had long-term value for our company's objectives. She demonstrated a remarkable memory for everything she learned, and became a walking index of topics we'd covered in our pages. She also served as an editor on several of the ASC's book projects, which required her to proof highly technical information on very demanding schedules. When the company underwent some hierarchical restructuring in 2014, the new position of Managing Director-Online was created specifically for Rachael, whose tireless efforts greatly enhanced the ASC's online presence. In addition to creating and maintaining dynamic content for our website, theasc.com, she sparked dramatic growth in the reach and influence of our various social-media feeds (Facebook, Twitter and Instagram). Suffice to say that Rachael was one of the best hires I've ever made. She is a true professional who brought the highest standards to every project that passéd through her hands, and her contributions to the magazine (considered the publication of record on the topic of motion imaging) and the ASC (often referred to reverently as "the Temple of Photographic Wisdom") will stand the test of time.

I worked with Rachael Bosley in 2 capacities, as a fellow administrator and then later she served as my supervisor. My interactions with Rachael were always professional and genial. Rachael is the perfect team player who knows how to balance a firm sense of control with a cooperative, friendly demeanor. In addition to being a supportive and capable co worker she's also a calm and resourceful supervisor. Racheal worked with me in a very busy, very complicated environment and her efforts not only improved the reputation of the office but also a created a positive sense of comraderie on the staff. Sharp, judicious, flexible, and extremely hard working are all words that accurately describe her commitment to whatever the task at hand. She would be an asset to any organiztion that she became part of. I recommend her without hesitation as one of the most capable, reliable and truly decent people I've ever worked with. If you have questions, feel free to contact me.
