  My ongoing works broadly contribute to the research stream of sustainability and sustainable consumption. I am particularly interested in waste avoidance strategies followed by consumers in pre-purchase, during usage and disposal stages of consumption. My research interests cover practices such as, preowned consumption, sharing, renting, recycling and reuse of products, that can be broadly categorized within the framework of frugal consumer behavior. In following this pursuit, I contribute conceptually by providing insights that extends extant theories of consumer behavior and psychology.   I have worked on the dynamics of the preowned luxury market in the USA. Preowned luxury not only represents one of the key strategies for enhanced sustainability of fashion and luxury but also allows access to high–end luxury products. The research provides insights into the spillover effects of the preowned market on luxury brand equity. Much of this essay has been completed during my time at the University of Pittsburgh as a Fulbright VSR under the supervision of Vanitha Swaminathan and my dissertation chair Zeynep Gurhan-Canli.
