I came to know Rabbi Wernick at Adath Israel during the time that I worked there as Communications Administrator. It didn't take long for me to gain respect for him as a spiritual leader, as pastoral leader (forgive my Christian reference) and as someone who cared very much for the welfare and development of the Jewish community. I found him to be creative, thoughtful, responsive and an architect for change--not for change's sake, but in pro-active co-partnership with the community at large. From daytime programs like "Lunch & Learn" to evening seminars and other creative ways to connect, Rabbi Steve provided the clockwork to keep the synagogue and school running. While I reporte4d to the executive director, I worked with Rabbi Wernick on many special events. His foundational spirit and vitality are remarkable and I am glad to have had the honor of working with him.If he leaves the synagogue I know he will be missed.

Rabbi Wernick has been the Rabbi at my synagogue for over five years. He officiated at both of my sons' B'nai Mitzvah, and also at my daughter's wedding. My husband and I have started attending services much more frequently since he became the Rabbi at our synagogue; his ability to involve the congregation is phenomenal. Following each of the family celebrations, many of our out-of-town friends and family members remarked about how much they enjoyed Rabbi Wernick's remarks, and how engaging they found him. He is able to intertwine humor with a deep understanding of Judaism, and to strike an effective balance in order to convey an appropriate message and maintain people's interest. We feel very fortunate to have him as the Rabbi at our synagogue.
