Rabbi Mike is an incredible rabbi. As a congregant at CBE, I was drawn to his energetic applied Judaism. Classes he leads are thought-provoking, learned, engaging, and participatory. Innovations he introduced to services made them accessible, inclusive, and helped to build community. His compassionate and open nature drew people to him from within and outside the congregation. As chair of the social justice group, I was inspired and guided by his involvement and by his example. He has been our rabbi through some very difficult, challenging years and my respect and admiration for him has only grown through that time. He is a truly exceptional rabbi.

Simply put, Rabbi Mike is a blessing. He began his tenure as Rabbi at Congregation Beth Elohim shortly after my first of three boys had his Bar Mitzvah, and instantly became a beloved leader of the congregation. He is an empathetic, caring, and kind person who really knows what it means to listen and to ask curious questions. When my second son (who really didn't want to be the center of attention) began to prepare for his Bar Mitzvah, Rabbi Mike was the perfect person to guide him on his journey. When it came time for my third son's Bar Mitzvah Covid -19 was in full force. Rabbi Mike was instrumental in making the service happen from the living room of our home, on Zoom. He has also helped me any time I've had questions or sought advice. Rabbi Mike has a calming and gentle way about him, and has a fantastic sense of humour. He deeply cares for those less fortunate or marginalized in our communities and our country and works hard to support and effect change for everyone. In addition, his sermons are epic. I cannot recommend Rabbi Mike highly enough!!!!
