I designed, managed and taught English to overseas students. Our main purpose was to prepare students for the IELTS test so that they could enter our Business School. I also managed the operation of the in-house testing process (certified externally by NZQA) whereby students could move up between the various levels (in Business or IT courses). Designed the ESOL curriculum, employed and managed staff, recruited students from overseas, sorted out accreditation to NZQA for ESOL, etc. Quit after one year as the Korean boss was corrupt. An interesting experience nevertheless. Taught English. Edited/proofread all articles for The Review of Korean Studies (an academic journal). Edited/proofread the Academy's English website, several books, and many other publications. Taught English language and American Studies (history, constitution, society, culture). CUK was a fantastic place. Some of my old students still keep in touch and it is great to have seen them progress through life, do their military service, get married, have children. Amazing. Radiographer
-
1980 - 1985
Trained and worked mainly as an Industrial Radiographer. Also trained in Ultrasonics and MPI testing. It was a kind of apprenticeship where we worked and trained at the same time. We were really lucky as we also learned and gained experience in casting, machining, welding and various other engineering related disciplines. Worked mainly on site but sometimes went off-site to perform ultrasonic inspections of large castings/forgings that were difficult to move due to their large size. I like to keep in touch and when back in the UK I sometimes visit to say "Hi" and to see what my old friends are doing. Show less
