After creating the very first Github repo for Glidr in 2015, I took an impassioned role into developing the architecture and engaging the bigger problems of the development of our enterprise app. I worked very closely with the product team, heavily influencing product decisions and was always thinking of how to improve and scale our systems. Our app was released in 2016. Over time I have built systems, procedures, libraries and solved significant problems that I've touched upon in my previous position descriptions. Most notably, I developed an async messaging system that was 8000x faster than the previous implementation. A blog post describing this solution was published by "Towards Data Science" a top medium publication. More recently, I completely redesigned our Backend architecture, turning a tangled and exposed microservice system into a very simple and resilient microservice implementation abstracted away from the consumers with a Graphql API Gateway. I designed the system loosely based after Netflix's 'backend for frontend'. Since 2016, I made the shift to work remote, and to lead the Backend team from abroad. From there I have continued with the same responsibilities and production output. This includes my focus on team management, ensuring morale is high and communication is painless. I have utilized my soft-skills to develop our team infrastructure, focusing on personal growth, cross-team collaboration, leadership building, mentorship and in-depth code reviews. I've arranged my team so that each person 'owns' an aspect of their development, yet we all constantly work, help, and collaborate with each other. This increases motivation, pride, mentorship and teamwork during the development process. Throughout this process, I've enforced task-management, sprint retrospectives and planned extracurricular activities to bring the team closer togetherBeyond team management, I have also served as one of the head engineers. I designed and implemented the initial Frontend architecture using React/Redux before handing it off to the Frontend team, However I still return to it to handle non product development issues such as bugs, testing standards and utilizing all of the best features of webpack to reduce bundle size by over 80%.Most of my focus revolved around backend development. I originally developed and built over 75% of our apps backend microservice infrastructure, although this number has changed overtime as our engineering team has grown and migrated. I have also implemented a strict test coverage requirements, both by creating testing tooling and library that allows tests to be created efficiently and easily.
