Construction Manager - Bioretention Research
-
Oct 2015 - May 2016
I will be managing the installation and construction of a experimental bio retention system. To model a full size storm water retention system. Phase one of this research determined what constituents are found in Salt Lake County urban runoff. The data was compared with previous studies and public records to determine the average constituent loads within the runoff. Now in phase two of the research we will begin researching the best way to filter the constituents out of our water system through water retention. The two primary constituents found in Salt Lake County urban runoff are nitrogen and phosphorus. An excess of total phosphorus and total nitrogen can contribute to a loss of dissolved oxygen in the waterways, which can become a threat to downstream wildlife such as fish.
