I had the pleasure of being a member of the Washington Ireland class of 2013 with Peter. Peter's confidence and ability to motivate people was consistently shown throughout the program. Peter is an excellent public speaker and took many leadership roles throughout the summer, including MC of the WIP awards ceremony, moderating talks from high profile guests such as Tom Wheeler of the Federal Communications Council and delivering a masterclass on PR and communications. I worked with Peter on a policy paper entitled 'sport and reconciliation in Northern Ireland'. Peter was extremely passionate about this topic and showed leadership in the group through his thorough and consistent approach to the work. Peter has an infectiously good personality and has an extremely positive influence on those around him.

Working for Chris Lyttle, MLA for Belfast East, I gained a valuable insight into the political environment. During my time in Chris's office I drafted all blogs for his website. Topics varied from comment on local news stories, to the breakdown of new policies. Developed and controlled a weekly e-News letter which informed local constituents of the work Chris was doing in the area and at Parliament Buildings. Created a video blog, which enabled Chris to communicate with… Show more Working for Chris Lyttle, MLA for Belfast East, I gained a valuable insight into the political environment.
