As the IT Manager at Reset Film I was responsible for the entire IT infrastructure including design, implementation and operation.Since the high-end visual effect productions were done in a small-to-mid sized team at a blazing pace - the primary and challenging focus was combining fast and highly-effective solutions with low-cost. Using my expertise I successfully implemented custom built high-end workstations costing a fraction of the industry standard. This allowed artists to work as efficiently as possible while maintaining minimal company expenses.Furthermore, I supervised the upgrade of the render farm when the company decided to consist of both 3ds Max and Maya based artists. Besides doing a major hardware upgrade (for render performance), this required a solution which (at the time) could accommodate for two different 3D renderers (Vray and Mental Ray) and support both platforms (3ds Max and Maya). I came up with an optimal solution based on a 20-node cluster using Royal Render as the render manager.Additionally, with costs in mind I installed a data backup system which allowed redundancy mechanisms at a marginal cost investment compared to solutions traditionally used in the industry.Key responsibilities:▪ Daily maintenance▪ Infrastructure planning▪ Fileserver (Windows Server/SMB)▪ Data backup▪ Workstations (PC/Mac)▪ Render manager (Backburner/Royal Render)▪ Render farm (20-node cluster)▪ Software Licensing Show less
