Peter Saville, the ‘Peter Drucker of psychometrics' has revolutionised the industry since the 1980s and has been a global thought leader in his field ever since. It’s an absolute privilege to know and to work with Peter, who is a highly astute businessman, serial entrepreneur, educator, author and an inspiration to me and the industry.

Peter Saville’s contributions to Industrial- Organizational -Psychology are legion. As Founder, Chairman and CEO of SHL he transformed Occupational Psychology in the U.K. and internationally. I had the privilege of working with Peter and feel his influence to this day. The quality of the Psychometrics Master Class delivered together were second to none as was Peter’s focus to help others. The scientific rigour Peter encouraged and the immense influence he had on the critical need for HR to get the right person in the right job by his development of fair and objective selection methods has had incalculable benefit for the U.K. economy and beyond. By his innovation, entrepreneurship and leadership and the psychometric tools he created, like the OPQ, including the first version of the Big 5 factors of personality, now used by academics worldwide, Peter revolutionised the world of work. He has rightly been recognised as a genius at what he achieved.

I first met Peter when he was delivering one of the very first OPQ courses at SHL in 1986. It was obvious then how knowledgeable and passionate Peter was about psychometrics, challenging the traditional approach to how psychometric instruments were developed, designed and presented. As a fellow business owner, I’ve always recognised that SHL, due to Peter’s influence, helped to put Occupational Psychology on the map, making it credible by driving up the standards of Occupational Psychology in general. Peter’s energy and commitment are second to none, as evidenced by his starting afresh after leaving SHL to build yet another highly successful assessment practice, Saville Consulting. In addition to these successes I’ve always found Peter to be engaging, stimulating, encouraging and highly supportive of other colleagues in the industry.
