Bio
Prof. Jude T Lubega
I have known Prof. Idris for over 14 years, and he is a dedicated scholar who has not only been satisfied with attainment of PhD but has proactively engaged universities in Africa and grassroots communities and has built many Communities of Practice all over Africa that are now vibrantly serving society; and has published widely in credible peer-reviewed journals. In his service at Makerere University as Deputy Dean in charge of Academic at the Faculty of Computing and Informatics from 2008 to 2011, I worked very closely with him as Deputy Dean in charge of Graduate Studies. His portfolio at Makerere University was a senior management position that entailed engagement with university leaders and staff in relation to teaching, looking for funding for research and innovations, supervising graduate students among others; the tasks that he delivered meritocratically until expiry of his tenure. I had opportunity to attend together with Prof. Idris several meetings, seminars and other engagements for institutional administrators. In all these engagements, he always demonstrated a wealth of experience with case studies on various aspects including leadership, management and administration, as well as practical aspects of financial mobilization and allocations for effectiveness and efficiency. He is indeed an innovative, dedicated, focused and proficient in his work and has e self-drive in him to get work done that is immeasurable and has supported him in all the past achievements.

He is one and possible the only one iconic figure we may have of Zanzibar origin on embedded system, yet we confined him only on academic instead of using his creative idea in a broad range on digital culture.
