I established an internal finance function which included insourcing the book-keeping function leading to a 20% reduction in costs. As part of this I recruited, trained and mentored a new finance manager to manage day-to-day finance operations. Additionally, I evaluated and selected a new finance system to automate finance processes. This increased productivity through reduced time on low value tasks and improved the reliability and integrity of data. Establishing new budgeting, forecasting and reporting systems, these improved the visibility of project related costs and profitability. In this finance and commercial director role, I worked closely with the owner to develop and implement a growth strategy with robust financial controls and reporting. I was instrumental in driving the brand from one store, two staff with a £250k turnover to three stores, ten staff, ecommerce site with a £2m turnover, within 3 years. I established a new finance function introducing management reports, financial planning and forecasting that ensured all statutory filing and reports were completed. I also redesigned all business processes and translated these to a new digital system resulting in greater transparency across stock control together with business efficiencies such as cashing up.
