    • Director (Technical Research Team)
      • Feb 2021 - Present

In this volunteering role, I lead the technical research team to develop a materials, land, and carbon emission intensity calculator for different energy sources. This involves gathering the necessary data, analyzing it, and generating comprehensive visuals to better understand the global climate situation. It also includes collaborating with different companies and NGOs. Investigation of structural integrity and stress corrosion cracking for materials for advanced lead-cooled reactors. For this, simple and effective instrumentation was designed, built, and validated to perform stress corrosion cracking studies at high temperatures in heavy liquid metals (lead/lead-bismuth eutectic) environments. Samples from experiments were investigated using a range of microscopic techniques which includes SEM, FIB, 3D-FIB, BIB, EDX, EBSD, and TEM/STEM/EDX.

    • Project Assistant
      • Dec 2019 - Apr 2020

The research work splits between two projects - Corrosion of novel steels in the liquid lead for Gen-IV LFRs and Accident tolerant fuel cladding for next-generation nuclear reactors. Experimental work includes sample preparation and characterising them using different types of electron microscopy techniques at the microscopic level. This includes mainly SEM, FIB/BIB, EDX, EBSD/TKD, APT, and STEM/TEM/EDX.

    • Physics Research Intern
      • May 2019 - Dec 2019

The project is concerned with the corrosion of steels in pure liquid lead at high temperatures from 600-800 C, for use in Gen-IV lead cooled fast reactors. In the project new alloys are developed, both ferritic FeCrAl+RE and alumina forming austenitic (AFA) steel. The steels are exposed to liquid lead in COSTA facility at the KTH, Stockholm, and will be analyzed by electron microscopy (FIB/SEM, EDS and TEM) and atom probe tomography (APT). The aim of this work is to better understand the corrosive behaviour, especially the role of reactive elements, and to find improved compositions of steel for future lead cooled reactors.

In my 3rd year of undergraduate studies, I was a ’Process and Quality Control’ intern at the Manikgarh Cement Pvt. Ltd., Chandrapur, India. I assisted plant engineers to improve safety and lower the waste in production, thus improving the efficiency of the whole process. It was an exciting opportunity to work in a fully professional environment, which taught me different aspects of plant maintenance, unit operations, and processes.
