  The Algae Research Lab at University Malaya is investigating the use of Algae in BioPhotoVoltaic (BPV) cells to generate electricity whilst sequestering carbon dioxide and using Palm Oil Mill Effluent (POME) as the medium for growth. I have taken an active role in analysing the composition of the supplied POME, creating mediums for further testing and participating with the team at the International Research Innovation, Invention & Solution Exposition (IRIISE2018). The team won a gold medal and both the Special and Outstanding awards at this Exposition. Over and above the organisational skills required to work in a lab environment, I have become familiar with technical skills such as the use of an Autoclave machine, Laminar Flow cupboards, Light Spectroscopy and the presentation of relevant data.
