My job role is to support and liaise for conference clients, ensuring that requirements for equipment, preparation of facilities and delivery of customer service/care are consistently met to the agreed standard of the conference operations, including some supervisory duties to ensure all tasks are undertaken in an efficient, safe and hygienic manner and in line with health & safety and security requirements. I am also responsible for monitoring facilities, goods and equipment, and duly take action in replenishing supplies or to report matters as necessary. I occasionally take up additional work related to other external conferences which allow me to challenge my abilities and experience the fast-paced environment at a registration desk of a conference being attended by, for example 1600 people. In addition, I also take up any chance of doing administration work within the conference house which allows me to see the changes between the jobs and enjoy them, diminishing the monotonous angle in my experiences. This has included proofreading a conference booklet of over 500 pages, making amendments, sending/receiving letters to clients overseas, checking the allocations of dinners/tours of individual clients and many more. Every different type of work teaches me the value of communication and accuracy that is essential within each job. Show less

My duties included research of statistics between the deaf institutes of deaf and/or hard-of-hearing people. In addition, I also kept up-to-date with internal database including the the paper records for the BSL classes. The volunteering role also involved communicating with students on the telephone regarding queries and at the reception desk. I occasionally also assisted a BSL-competent person with the Job club for deaf members providing support and supervision to the members. Having been inspired by the institute, I also enrolled myself on the beginners course for BSL and completed the training. Show less

Being employed by the brand Waterwood Wedgwood Royal Doulton (WWRD), I had the honour of representing WWRD in Debenhams Store as a Merchandiser and a Sales Executive in the House of Fraser. My job had a clear aim: to learn the tactics from House of Fraser and employ them in Debenhams to increase the sales with all means provided. With tactical planning, I reorganised the whole department in Debenhams to a mirror image of House of Fraser, and managed to increase the sales by 30% in the first two weeks itself. My duties involved giving a makeover to the department in Debenhams ranging from replenishing stock on the shop floor, occasionally serving customers, scanning in/out items and maintaining the stock-room to the best standards. My job role at House of Fraser allowed me to fully communicate with customers by telephone, face-to-face and develop my peoples skills. Show less

    • Playgroup Worker
      • Aug 2009 - Apr 2010

This job was offered to me while doing my A-levels, in the summer. I took up the role of a volunteer and thoroughly enjoyed myself with the two weeks of relaxed, yet structured, work at the site. The position involved assisting the Playgroup Worker with a group of kids who had intellectual and learning difficulties with their extra-curricular activities, such as painting, playing, watching TV, eating and many more. The next Easter, I was offered the job of a Playgroup Worker which I gladly accepted. With the upgrade came more responsibilities. Being the main supervisor for my group, which included four children with disabilities ranging from Aspergers to some serious Developmental problems, I had a volunteer to assist me in day-to-day activities. In addition to supervising my group, I also had to occasionally monitor other group's children in absence of other Playgroup workers, or when off-site for trips. This experience allowed me to widen my horizons and learn how to communicate with all ages ranging from kids to their parents to other officials, and to learn the art of patience. Show less
