Women's Officer
-
Mar 2016 - Mar 2017
- My role was to make sure the society was an accessible and comfortable environment for women to join, and to get involved in. I was an approachable first point of contact and hosted weekly socials to develop an informal and professional network. - I had a welfare role, which included helping women in personal ways and signposting them to relevant welfare services. - During this time, I increased and championed female engagement and participation in politics, substantially increasing the number of women who not only got involved with university society events, but also in external campaigning events in elections, such as the EU referendum and the 2017 General Election. When it came to election the new Warwick Labour exec, the new exec had a female majority, and a female chair; an event which had not happened for many years. Show less
