I have participated in two two-day insight schemes at top City law firms, one online and one in-person. The opportunity to learn about the firms’ specific practice area focuses and network with lawyers from trainees to partners, including sitting with the Tax team for a day at Simmons & Simmons, gave me both detailed information and practical experience of what being a corporate lawyer might be like, confirming my ambitions in this field. Legal Intern

During my one week micro-internship at OMMTech, a biotech start-up working on gene silencing technologies, I drafted legal documents including four versions of an NDA and a client services contract, both doing extensive research and using other examples of similar contracts to analyse which clauses were necessary and the level of confidentiality restrictions required. Working in a team with two other interns, I also edited other contracts and commented on contracts OMMTech had received. It was a really exciting experience and I gained a lot from seeing the legal requirements and contracts most important to start-ups.
