Polina was my supervisor at a community resource center. Something that I admired about her approach to this work was her prioritization of getting work done in public spaces of the community center, rather than in a private office, whenever possible. I think this speaks volumes about how she sees herself in the scope of community-oriented work: she wants to immerse herself in the community and its programs whenever possible. Working with Polina was a positive experience in which we were able to collaborate closely. She was clear when giving me feedback about my work and this helped us to have a good working relationship. She and I spent time developing new calendaring systems and organizational structures, and we saw positive results in terms of community engagement and participation in programs. My experience working with Polina was extremely positive and I know she is very capable with regard to community engagement, community center management, and program execution.

Polina and I worked together during her post as a social services coordinator in Safe Place International. Polina was managing the community center and all the services providing within showing an amazing understanding of needs and also completing needs assessments and organising the services offered by the center. Furthermore to that, she was in contact with external agencies and other organisations and it was clear that she was always up to date and very capable in communication and scheduling. Apart from the above, it noteworthy to say that Polina was also very efficient when it comes to the contact with the beneficiaries. Beneficiaries trusted her and had the chance to be in context with her for their needs. I totally recommend Polina, she would be an asset for any organisation, she is a true professional in her field.

Working as a Community Center Director and for a short period of time as a Caseworker for the project Athens Housing Collective within Safe Place International. The project is addressing the needs of the LGBT community of refugees, offering housing as well as an opportunity to attend a range of events in the Community Center such as Greek and English language classes, therapeutic groups, counseling and support regarding any psycho-social matters as well as job counseling. Main responsibilities of my role as Director of the center were leading and organizing all aspects of the Engagement Programs of the center, approving and scheduling all classes and events, developing and expanding projects and programs that foster and model community sustainability practices, building coalitions with a wide range of organizations, enterprises and networks and recruiting and managing all volunteers and staff members of the center. Also, working closely with Athens Housing Collective Director and psychologist to create engagement plan, establishing benchmarks for program development and evaluation including building, monitoring and maintaining budgets by attending weekly meetings. Last but not least, part of my role was coordinating the procurement and logistics for all the supplies of the Community Center, creating and filing all the contracts and necessary documents for beneficiaries, staff, volunteers and contractors, according to the General Data Protection Regulation and the policies of the organization.
