Jackie Mullins
PJ volunteered in the Collections Department at the Valentine Richmond History Center. Much of his previous work in photography was of people, but he immediately became our go-to photographer of collections objects. After learning how to properly handle museum objects, PJ took some of the best images that we now use as part of our collections management database. After receiving funding from a grant to buy new photography equipment, PJ advised us of how to best use the funds for our specific needs. He has proven himself not only in the quality of his work, but also as a true friend of the museum!

From 2013-2018 I was the assistant to several Brandcenter Executive Directors. I managed their calendars, arranged meetings, coordinated with guests, booked travel and processed reimbursements. In 2018, I joined the admissions team, where I handled sensitive application documents, responded to prospective student questions, and managed prospective student interviews and visits. In addition to day-to-day administrative tasks, my other other responsibilities included updating and maintaining the website, managing the YouTube account, and assisting with other social media platforms, content creation, and archiving. I photographed and edited photos of events, faculty, staff, students, and the building. I collaborated with VCU Libraries to document over 150 brand icons for VCU’s digital collections. The process was presented at Digital Archives in the Commonwealth Summit 2019 and published as Advertising Icons: Preserving the Cultural Record of Brand Ambassadors. I hired and led a group of Federal Work Study students to help with these responsibilities. Show less
