I worked closely with Pip on a greenfield project for 4 months at ClimatePartner. She helped me get up to speed on a very complicated topic and was instrumental in pushing the project forward. She is very good at maintaining an overview of an entire project in her head throughout the development process, and she takes particular care in researching and gaining knowledge on every topic relevant to the task at hand. She is a diligent and conscientious developer, she maintains the highest standards in her code writing, as well as providing concise and specific documentation. She is a constant learner, and her ability to grasp difficult concepts in a short amount of time is nothing short of impressive. She is driven by her work, and is incredibly passionate about sustainability. Above all, she's an excellent software developer - I wholeheartedly recommend Pip for any software role, she would be an invaluable asset to any team.

It is my pleasure to recommend Pip, a former colleague of mine, whom I had the pleasure of working with for eight months in the same team. Pip is an exceptional professional who possesses a unique set of skills that make her an asset to any team. During our time together, I was impressed by Pip's passion for her work and her eagerness to learn. She has an innate ability to learn fast and grasp complex concepts quickly. Her enthusiasm for her work was infectious, and it was a pleasure to work alongside her. Pip's research and development skills are second to none, and she always had a keen eye for detail. She developed cool prototypes that demonstrated her innovative approach to problem-solving. Her ability to think creatively and develop unique solutions is a testament to her ingenuity and creativity. Overall, I believe that Pip would make any future team better. Her dedication to her work, passion for learning, and innovative mindset make her an ideal candidate for any role. In conclusion, I highly recommend Pip without reservation. She is an exceptional professional who is dedicated to her work and is committed to achieving the best possible results.

      • Developing an interactive forecast modelling application for corporate carbon footprints, accounting for business growth and reduction measure scenarios to enable companies to set realistic reduction targets (greenfield). • Analysing the validity of our business growth models against real data. • Leading the carbon footprint data integration: negotiating with other teams (software, R&D), defining the data acquisition procedure, cleaning and remapping the data, communicating future requirements, building good dependencies. • Brainstorming possible user flows and data input methods with a UI/UX designer. • Demonstrating the product and updating stakeholders, communicating methods. • Maintaining a legacy system, adding requested features, extending test coverage. • Helped form 2 new teams, establishing our ways of working (core pairing hours, pair rotation, ship/show/ask, ceremonies). Onboarded new team members. Show less

      • Worked in a small team responsible for running an experimental station in the BESSY II facility, performing experiments related to electrochemistry, atmospheric science and carbon capture, supporting/training visiting scientists. • I was responsible for designing, building, and maintaining novel equipment: a “Droplet Train” (a stable, continuous flow of liquid droplets). This involved building electronics hardware and control software, for motors, microfluidics, gas flow and pressure control, and interfacing everything to work together. • Wrote scripts for automating the processing and fitting of large datasets. • Worked in a research group at the Microfocus x-ray scattering beamline P03 at Petra III under supervision of Stephan Roth. Here I helped out with various experiments at the beamline as well as analysing data taken at the beamline. • Mainly analysed in situ GISAXS (Grazing incidence small angle x-ray scattering) and XRR (x-ray reflectivity) data from sputter deposition of gold onto different substrates under different temperature and pressure conditions. For this I learnt to use the software DPDAK to extract information about the cluster formation and layer depths. • Produced a well-received report including the relevant scattering theory, my results, conclusions and suggestions for further analysis. • Attended a series of lectures on current photon physics research taking place at DESY using the synchrotron beamlines. Radar antenna physicist (research experience placement), supervisor Edward King. • Worked mainly unsupervised to build the new DELORES (DEep-LOoking Radio-Echo Sounder) antennas, taught myself some antenna theory in order to test them using a network analyser; and compared the results to the old antenna’s to check for improvements. • Tested that the new DELORES software received and stacked inputted radio waves correctly. • Assisted on other projects such as making sonar detector units, and packing the research equipment to be shipped to Antarctica by a strict deadline. • Produced a satisfactory report at the end of my placement including: an illustrated instruction manual for constructing the antenna parts, hardware and software test results, and the theory behind the antennas design.
