I am available whenever he is not present. Operations at Wuppermann Staal Nederland consists of about 100 FTE who work 24/7. Manager of Process Technology in Steel Industry

After 3.5 years I switched to Wuppermann, to obtain a management team function as Manager Procestechnology. In this function, I manage the Process Technology department within Wuppermann Staal Nederland. This department is concerned with optimizing the entire production facility of Wuppermann, concerning Quality, Output, process stability, Production Methods, and Safety. In this function, I work together with European colleagues and I attend international conferences to obtain new knowledge. After five months in R&D, I found my work to be too technical and the actual connection with the business was lacking for me. I was offered to switch to Operations as a Production Manager. In this function, I managed the semi-products department at Fri-Jado. This department is divided into four sub-departments namely: sheet metal works , welding, powder coating and fine banking. I managed 6 direct employees and 40 indirect employees. My daily responsibilities were, to monitor efficiency, to implement continuous improvement plans, to manage the employees, to plan according to capacity and to monitor the output, to arrange to outsource, to advise on investments, to maintain and manage stock levels, purchase, maintain contact and network with suppliers/customers. After graduation I wanted to work in the industry and experience more of the business, that is why I actively searched for a Traineeship, in which I was able to explore several positions with in a business. I ended up signing with Fri-Jado. Where I started as a R&D Trainee, to provide more in-depth technical knowhow concerning the various devices created at their plant. I made a simplified thermodynamical model in order to simulate the heat transfer in one of their appliances, a chicken rottiserie. Show less

Graduating Master Student Thermo Fluid Engineering

Graduating Thesis: Experimental investigation into the flow characteristics of a stationary blown heavy-duty cylinder head, at the Technical University Eindhoven, in cooperation with DAF Trucks. In this graduation project I was asked to visualize the in-cylinder air structures of a heavy-duty cylinder. I designed and constructed the complete setup and analyzed the air structures using Particle Image Velocimetry. I ordered the needed materials for the setup and arranged technical assistance to build both the physical setup as well as the measurement setup. This resulted in a functional working flow bench setup on which I obtained the required data. The obtained data was analyzed and reported and serves as reference measurements for future CFD analysis. During this project I learned a lot on fluid dynamics and visualization techniques. I really enjoyed the contact with various suppliers as well as with people at various levels within the university which were involved in building this setup. In the last two months of my graduation I guided a bachelor student which completed his bachelor thesis with a project on my setup, and wrote a guide for future users of the setup. Show less

Internship: Heat-Recirculating Burners for use in Micro Turbines at MTT B.V.

MTT is a high tech company developing and commercializing advanced micro gas turbines and applications. My internship concerned an investigation into a new type of combustor which could be used within micro turbine conditions. The specifications for this burner were very stringent, for instance the burner would have to burn very lean methane mixture (up to φ = 0.3). An initial burner was supplied by my supervisor who also worked on the subject. I designed and constructed a setup to house this burner and tested it. However this initial approach failed and due to the nature of the burner it proved very hard to find any other economic solutions. I did an extensive failure investigation and was able to come up with economic alternatives, which I ordered and tested. However the problems troubling the initial burner remained and all economic alternatives failed. I reported all these findings and known causes to these failures and did recommendations on less economic alternatives. This internship gave me better understanding of combustion and high temperature materials. I also learned how to deal with a failing project during this internship. Show less
