  The University of Antwerp is an internationally recognized research university in Flanders, Belgium. As Director of the International Relations Office I manage a team of 18 staff members, dealing with university-wide policy formulation and execution in the area of internationalisation, international cooperation and networking. This ranges from student and staff mobility to development cooperation, services for international staff and students, international educational projects and strategic networks and partnerships.I have been active in the leadership of several professional associations at national and international level for many years. I present frequently at international events on different aspects of internationalisation of higher education.

  APOPO trains detection rats to enhance life-saving actions. APOPO is a social enterprise that researches, develops, and deploys detection rat technology for humanitarian purposes, most notably detecting landmines and disease (tuberculosis) among vulnerable populations in several countries. APOPO is a registered charity in Belgium and has administrative offices in Belgium and Tanzania. The operational headquarters are in Morogoro, Tanzania. In 2014 an independent entity with 501c3 tax exempt status (APOPO US) was set up in the United States in order to raise funds for APOPO's projects.   The Academic Cooperation Association (ACA) is a federation of national organisations from Europe and beyond, which all fund and encourage the internationalisation of their higher education systems. Acting as an advocate of internationalisation world-wide, ACA offers these actors a European multilateral platform for cooperation, the development of long-lasting partnerships, and innovation in higher education. ACA stands for many things, but above all, it is an expert centre, producing studies and evaluations, organising international seminars and conferences, and providing information on new developments in European and global higher education.

The Annual EAIE Conference, the largest of its kind in Europe, attracts more than 5000 participants.
