Pietro provided some wonderful insights and leadership as a research and teaching academic whilst at The University of Sydney, thinking outside the square to evaluate the impacts of oxidative stress on everything from mastitis in cows to pneumonia in foals. An excellent animal physiologist with a great appetite for discovery, application of molecular biochemical techniques and wonderful people management skills.

I am delighted to recommend Pietro Celi, who I worked closely with at the Faculty of Veterinary Science, The University of Sydney, between July 2005 and July 2015, through my role as the Coordinator Extramural Placements. Pietro during this time was appointed as the Sub-Dean for Animal Husbandry Placements. Responsible for the management of farm placements and oversight through his Sub-Dean Role for all other clinical placements for the then Bachelor of Veterinary Science Degree, approximately 6500 placements a year. This role required close contact with other academic staff, administration staff, the student body and also external stakeholders. His ability to network and build collaborative relationships with admin staff, academics, students and external stakeholders from a diverse range of cultural backgrounds and locations worldwide helped to make the extramural placement programs a success. Pietro was called on to trouble-shoot conflicts, WHS issues and problem solving other placement issues and he did this with care and compassion for those involved. Pietro’s ability to be sensitive to and maintain confidentiality, created an environment wherein students and staff were able to engage with him in confidence. It was my pleasure to work with Pietro and I do not hesitate to recommend him. Pietro would make a valuable addition to any business.

Endorsement for Dr. Pietro CeliIncredibly efficient, agreeable and knowledgeable is the phrase that come to my mind when I think about Pietro. I have had the pleasure of knowing Pietro for five years, during which we have collaborated on the exciting topic of livestock animal gut health and integrated, harmoniously and in a customer-centric approach, biomarkers, animal nutrition and health (Pietro’s expertise) and microbiome (my field). Above all, I was strongly impressed by Pietro’s drive and ability to connect and communicate his cutting-edge science to different types of stakeholders. As part of his extraverted thinking personality profile, Pietro’s storytelling ability is unique. We will miss his outstanding presentations… and his always-elegant fashion style.Dr Ghislain SchynsPrincipal Scientist DSM Nutritional Products
