  I was the first reporter for the new Illinois Farmer Today newspaper giving me a chance to be there from the beginning. I plan stories at weekly meetings and quarterly with the Missouri and Iowa teams, I research and write feature stories, news and online newsletters, I also take photos and take videos.   I started as a freelance writer in 2003 mostly covering school board meetings and became a full-time education reporter when an opening arose the next year. I covered education meetings, issues, referendums, and school activities. I was also the Saturday reporter where I covered a variety of community events. I also worked on the in-depth Sunday stories and won awards including a national first prize for breaking news in 2009.
