• Maintenance of files and databases for Financial Department, Treasury Department, and Actuarial Department. Audit databases to maintain data integrity and reconciliation. • Each month my time is typically spent as follows: • 10% - Getting three large detail files from the IT department. I converted the text files to a flat file by bringing them into advance Access 2003 or 2010. The flat-file format is necessary to calculate insurance company liabilities, including reserves, premiums, and unpaid claims. The results find the reasonableness by checking the record counts and comparing them to the previous month. • 15 % Calculating claim lags and loss ratios to determine how the company’s business is performing each month. • 15 % Calculating Stat (Statutory) A&H, ROP (Return of Premium), and Life reserves for the Financial Department. • 20 % Calculating GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) A&H, ROP, and Life reserves for the Financial Department. • 20 % Calculating DAC (Deferred Acquisition Costs) for the Financial Department. Special Projects • 20% - Using independent decisions, which involved determining the most efficient way to gather, process, and analyze information and write programs requested by either the Senior Vice President of the Treasury Department or the Executive Vice President of the Financial Department.
