Maasai Mara, Kenya As a research assistant with Kay Holekamp's Mara Hyena Project in Maasai Mara National Reserve in Kenya, I managed camp vehicles, equipment, and a staff of 6 or more employees, collected demographic and behavioral data on spotted hyenas (Crocuta crocuta), monitored local carnivore and prey species using transects, assisted in hyena immobilizations, radio tracked hyenas, processed fecal and blood samples, and presented hyena lectures to local tourists, students, and other community groups.
