Matt delivers value. Just a short initial call with him made me realise that there were ways to reframe our brand approach - by thinking bigger, more clerarly and in a more joined-up way. That might seem obvious but Matt helped us map that 'obious theory' to the detail of exactly what to do.

Matt is knowledgeable about music and the creative industries, well-networked, and a pleasure to work with. Capable, calm, and resourceful.

During the three years I’ve worked with Matt I’ve been hugely impressed by a number of things. Most notably, his strategic thinking and planning are second to none, and have enabled the BBC Future Media Comms team to land positive messages around some extremely complex products, services and partnerships. Matt’s ability in a crisis is also inspiring. There have been numerous occasions when his words both written and verbal have quite clearly made a significant impact in preserving the BBC’s reputation.

PPR was a pay-as-you-go PR service for scaleups. Matt Phillips founded the company after 15 years in tech PR (working with brands such as BBC, Universal Music, TransferWise, Mirror Group and dozens of startups) to solve the problem of high ‘sunk cost’ agency retainer fees that put quality PR out of reach for most smaller brands. After five successful years, that saw the business deliver hundreds of pieces of media coverage for over 50 different clients, Matt shut the business to focus on delivering an enhanced growth consultancy service (of which PR remains a key part) for a smaller group of clients.
