I had the pleasure of working with Phillipa for almost 3 years during my time as Financial Controller and her time as Hospital Director at the University of Melbourne Veterinary Hospital. Phillipa’s empathetic, consultative and decisive leadership style taught me a great deal, a lot of which I draw upon each day. From a purely financial standpoint, her understanding of budgets, performance targets, setting them and managing an organisation to them, was first class. I would have no hesitation recommending her business and administration skills, and would welcome the opportunity to one day work with and for Phillipa again.

Phillipa worked with me leading organisational development during a significant period of change following the creation of the area health services in Tasmania. Against what was at times deeply ingrained cyncisim from key stakeholders, Phillipa had carriage of a number of strategic OD projects that required engagement of the executive and senior management team and key clinical leaders. Her ability to think strategically, understand organisational complexity and positively influence key stakeholders in a dynamic environment was excellent. Phillipa has that uncanny ability to walk into a room, understand instantly what is happening at a human/political level and then effectively influence the players. She is genuinely upbeat, happily resilient and skilled at navigating organisational politics, and I have witnessed her turn people around from a position of resistance and hostility to active support for the agenda in her remit. Her understanding of not only the mechanics of executive leadership but also the pressure and inner lived experience of executive leaders is profound. Phillipa’s ability to come alongside, build trust and work effectively with them is exemplary. She is insightful, balanced and diplomatic and appropriately responds to the sensitivities at hand.
