I was working in downtown Norfolk Virginia on a library. The library was a renovation to a 100 year old building and a new 7 story addition to it. During my first rotation here I spent time processing submittals and posting RFI's to the drawings. I then moved into the field to assist the Superintendent. I helped out with general labor work - maintaining our equipment, completing some demolition. We also had to do some general survey work as well - getting elevations for steel beams. I also helped out with day to day field coordination between the subcontractors - answering questions in the field, submitting RFI's to the architect/engineer, and tracking work. During my second rotation here I continued to assist the Superintendent. I tracked more work on drawings, continued to do survey work to check the tolerance of the new concrete structure, as well as organized our laborer and carpenter to complete general duty work on a day to day basis. I was working on Fort Benning located in Columbus Georgia. We were renovating 2 barracks on base. I assisted the Quality Control Department by inputting submittals into CMiC as well as updating the drawings with the RFI postings. I also preformed in-wall and above ceiling inspections in the field. With the inspections I also learned how to track what systems had been tested by printing out drawings and highlighting what was tested. I was working on Fort Benning located in Columbus Georgia. I was working at a Cleveland Clinic Hospital in Avon Ohio. During my time at this project I spent time working with the project engineering. I started to learn the basics about how to submit change orders, learned how to do small estimates for potential change orders from the owner, and how to submit pay applications to an owner. I also spent time out in the field doing the final punch list for the building. I created a spreadsheet that kept my work organized on the computer about what needed to be completed in each room. There was also a roadway extension to the hospital that was occurring and I was designated the field engineer for that part of the job. I spent time every day walking the site, submitting RFI's, getting the submittals, and coordinating the work to complete the roadway. Show less
