The West Wing is the official young professionals think tank of and for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. As a young professionals think tank, we advise the ministry on various areas of Dutch foreign policy. My track focuses on the question "What is the future of the Council of Europe". Studenten voor Leiden was created to address the lack of representation for young people (for the most part students) in the city council. Even though 25% of Leiden is made up of students. The University has played an important role in the history and development of Leiden, which made it surprising that for the last 447 years of the Universities existence there was no student party. As campaign manager I was responsible for coming up with the strategy, planning and actual carrying out of the campaign for SVL (Studenten voor Leiden). We are all very proud of the results, having gained two seats and being the only new party to make it into the council. Show less
